Hatfield provides technical solutions and consulting services for sustainable forest management in temperate and boreal forests in North America and moist and dry tropical forests and mangrove ecosystems in Southeast Asia and Southern Africa.
Our multi-disciplinary expertise includes forest ecology and biodiversity, forest disturbance and recovery monitoring using remote sensing (including drones, LiDAR, and satellite platforms), wildfire risk and impact assessment, hydrology and watershed management, above – and below – ground carbon stock assessment, and socio-cultural assessment and valuation.
We work with governments, international organizations, Indigenous Peoples, NGOs, and the private sector to advance sustainable forest management practices in sectors such as forestry, oil palm plantations, forest plantation, non-timber products, bioenergy, hydropower, mining, and oil and gas. This includes addressing national and international sustainable forest management requirements and opportunities, such as high conservation value (HCV) assessments, High Carbon Stock Approach (HCSA), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, and reduced emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) projects following approved methodologies.
