Hatfield celebrates Martin Davies as he reaches his 30-year milestone with Hatfield!

We are thrilled to recognize Martin Davies, Senior-Vice President, for reaching his 30-year milestone with Hatfield.
Fresh out of his master’s degree, Martin entered the world of consulting 30 years ago today, joining Hatfield as a whip smart, technically-minded aquatic biologist with a passion for the environment. He quickly established himself as a nationally-recognized specialist in environmental effects monitoring and water quality, initially in pulp and paper, but eventually in the mining, energy, and oil sands industries.
His technical expertise and adventurous spirit landed him a lead role in several international projects, most notably investigating the effects of Agent Orange contamination in Vietnam. Martin was pivotal in Hatfield’s ground-breaking work on Agent Orange, a dioxin-contaminated herbicide that was widely used by the US military during the Vietnam War. As a result of this and his work in BC, Martin became a recognized leader in ecotoxicology and the monitoring and management of various dioxin contaminants.
Martin leveraged his international experience when he moved to Indonesia to lead Hatfield’s office in Bogor (PT Hatfield Indonesia) in the early 2000s. He spent two and half years working with a range of clients in industry, government, international agencies, and donor organizations, all while developing the technical and management capacity of the office, and deeply immersing himself in Indonesian culture.
Upon his return to Canada, Martin resumed his career as lead of Hatfield’s Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Group and became a Hatfield Partner in 2004. Since that time, Martin has been an integral member of Hatfield’s leadership team, focussing on corporate management and technical excellence.
Hatfield would not be the place it is today without the leadership Martin has brought to the organization. His uniquely dry wit and distinctive humour has enlightened many a Hatfield meeting and become a defining part of Hatfield culture. His contributions to the company over the past 30 years are immeasurable, and he continues to help shape the success, growth, and evolution of Hatfield.
