Data Analytics

February 2, 2020 by

Hatfield provides state-of-the-art services, tools, and strategic advice to enhance environmental and socio-economic data collection, management, analysis, visualization, and sharing.

Working closely with our clients, we design and implement custom data analytics to address specific needs and help clients understand and manage environmental risks and opportunities.

Environmental and Social Data Analytics: Hatfield builds on our deep technical knowledge to provide comprehensive data compilation, quality control, analysis, and visualization services for environmental and social data.

We have extensive experience with biological, chemical, and physical environmental data, as well as qualitative and quantitative social science surveys.

Hatfield’s data analysis and statistical expertise covers a wide range of statistical modeling techniques, including multivariate analyses, meta-analyses, and machine learning. We apply robust data management and quality processes that are supported by reproducible workflows and database applications.

Water Resource Modeling: We excel in a wide range of modelling disciplines, showcasing our exceptional proficiency in various areas, including groundwater flow and transport, slug and pump test analysis, vadose zone modeling, and hydraulic assessments. Our expertise extends to hydrological modelling, with a strong emphasis on watershed analysis and its associated impacts, particularly in relation to non-point pollution. We employ advanced uncertainty analysis techniques to ensure meticulous flow accounting, conduct sophisticated 3D coupled groundwater-surface water modelling, and demonstrate excellence in 1D and 2D hydraulic/habitat estimation.

Our services encompass a diverse set of offerings, such as precise calculations of forest fire risk, meticulous sediment transport modelling, thorough assessments of snowpack conditions, and comprehensive analysis of lake hydrodynamics using historical data to facilitate future forecasting. Our holistic modelling capabilities are designed to provide accurate environmental analysis and forward-looking predictions.

AI and Computer Vision: Hatfield is at the forefront of applying AI and computer vision techniques in several areas for environmental monitoring, including the development of novel AI and computer vision systems for our clients.

Remote Sensing Data Analytics: Hatfield is a world-leader in remote sensing data analytics, including satellite, airborne lidar, and remote piloted aerial systems. We have deep expertise in data collected using multi-spectral, radar, and lidar sensors and systems. We help clients extract important information from big datasets and utilize advanced cloud computing platforms and techniques for classification, segmentation, object detection, and trend detection. A key strength in our data analytics is combining remote sensing science with Hatfield’s domain knowledge in energy, mining, forest management, fisheries, wildlife, coastal and marine ecology, and climate change.

Why Hatfield?

Hatfield has a long track record of providing innovative solutions to complex problems. We work collaboratively with our clients and project stakeholders to ensure that cost-effective solutions can be found and implemented. Taking a science-first, multi-disciplinary approach, our technical experts apply best-of-class solutions to environmental and community development challenges.
