When dealing with climate change, it is often hard to know where to begin. Our climate change services focus on helping communities, businesses, governments, and organizations understand the complexity of climate hazard risk and learn about how they can take action to prepare for the changes that lie ahead.
For some, the first step is to grasp how the climate is changing and understand what that means for their home, their business, their community, and the environment around them. Others need to know where they are vulnerable, what part(s) of their organization, operation, or community are most at risk and, importantly, what options and resources are available to prepare, respond, and adapt.
Our Solutions
To help you plan for climate change and increase resilience to climate hazard risks we offer a range of services and solutions:
- Climate change and related climate hazard risk projections for your area based on the latest climate modeling data and presented in accessible, plain language formats.
- Vulnerability assessments – understand and map where your community, organization, or operation are most exposed and/or sensitive to climate hazard risks and extreme weather events.
- Quantifying the economic impacts of extreme weather events (short term) and long-term change in climate systems and hazards
- Resilience research using engagement and analysis to reveal the strengths, resources, and capabilities available to your organization or community to inform and action practical responses. We use surveys, structured engagement (focus groups/workshops) and other methods to connect with your constituents, citizens, and customers and uncover local knowledge and experience.
- Nature-based solutions to support adaption and mitigation, including:
- Sea level rise adaptations using state of the art coastal flood risk adaptation design including Living Dikes and managed retreat; and
- Forest management and restoration to protect ecosystem services and property and enhance mitigation and resilience.
