Hatfield Indonesia supports PLN Energy Transition Acceleration Programme

May 08, 2026

Hatfield Indonesia is proud to contribute to Indonesia’s clean energy ambitions through its role in the Energy Transition Acceleration Programme (ETAP), an initiative funded by KfW Development Bank to strengthen the country’s shift toward renewable power.

Designed to support PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), the ETAP programme consists of two components:

  • Component 1 focuses on enhancing PLN’s ability to apply international Environmental and Social (E&S) standards throughout all stages of its renewable energy projects. This includes integrating the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) that PLN developed with assistance from the World Bank in December 2023.
  • Component 2 focuses on strengthening PLN’s technical expertise in geothermal project development, including the preparation of drilling programs and the evaluation of technical studies.

Hatfield Indonesia is supporting a project consortium led by Oxford Policy Management, alongside PT Equator Global International and Enviro Pro Green Innovations. Together, the group provides expertise aimed at building PLN’s capacity to effectively manage E&S risks across its growing clean energy operations. This work includes assessing PLN’s existing E&S systems, formulating a strategy to embed the ESMS into daily operations, developing practical tools and guidance for implementation, delivering comprehensive training programs across all levels of the organization, and supporting E&S due diligence for high‑risk renewable energy projects.

Hatfield Indonesia is contributing key technical and leadership roles within the consortium, including the positions of Team Lead and Key Biodiversity Expert. These roles align with Hatfield’s long-standing experience in E&S risk management in Indonesia, as well as its recognized strengths in biodiversity management in one of the world’s most ecologically diverse regions.
