Background
The Centerm Expansion and South Shore Access Project encompassed a comprehensive set of enhancements aimed at addressing the anticipated short-term container shipping demands at the Centerm container terminal in Vancouver. Additionally, these improvements contributed to the overall enhancement of infrastructure throughout the south shore port area. As detailed by the Port of Vancouver (n.d.): “The project entailed the construction of new port land through infill, thereby expanding the terminal footprint by 15%. It also involved the reconfiguration of the Centerm container terminal, the construction of a new overpass on Centennial Road, alterations to Waterfront Road to establish a seamless port route connecting Canada Place to Highway 1, the removal of the Heatley Road overpass, and the coordination with tenants for road maintenance within port lands” (https://www.portvancouver.com/projects/terminal-and-facilities/centerm/)
