Hatfield implements fish rescue in Alberta
Nov 10, 2011
Hatfield Consultants was recently awarded a contract from TOTAL E&P Canada to implement a fish rescue on a tributary to the Ells River. The program was a requirement of the Joslyn Mine Operating Approval issued by Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Intensive minnow trapping and electrofishing were utilized to clear the watercourse of fish, which were then transported to a release point on the Ells River mainstem. Field work was completed in late October, with preparation of the technical report currently underway.
Managed through Hatfield’s Calgary office, this project builds upon previous fish rescue work conducted by Hatfield in Northern Alberta.
Hatfield established an office in Fort McMurray in 2003 and in Calgary in 2010 in order to serve our growing client base in Alberta. Hatfield’s Alberta offices are supported by personnel from our head office in Vancouver, B.C.
