Hatfield Donates to the Food Bank
Jan 11, 2021
The holiday season can be a difficult time for the many Canadians who depend on the generous support of food banks to feed their families; this year has been particularly challenging due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. In support of struggling families, Hatfield’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee launched a December food bank drive in all of our Canadian offices with the enthusiastic support of our staff. Including generous donations from staff, family members, and matching funds from the company, Hatfield raised $10,128 for local food banks in BC and Alberta. We’re very grateful to those who were able to give to this worthy cause during this challenging year.
BC food banks help 80,000 individuals every month, one-third of whom are children. Providing financial donations to food banks is preferable to food donations as the banks are able to leverage every dollar donated through the bulk purchase of food. Food banks help a wide variety of people put food on the table, including families, senior citizens, shelters, schools and much more. There is no typical person that turns to a food bank for help, and many people don’t realize that it could be a neighbour or even a co-worker who might be needing help from a food bank.
Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event a great success.
