Hatfield awarded extension of oil sands aquatic monitoring program
Jun 24, 2005
Since 2003, Hatfield Consultants Ltd. have managed and implemented the Regional Aquatics Monitoring Program (RAMP) in the oil sands region of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The program focuses on aquatic environments that may potentially be affected by oil sands development and monitors specific components of the these environments such as climate and hydrology, fish populations, water quality, sediment quality, benthic invertebrate communities and acid sensitive lakes.
Based on an extensive performance review, the multi-stakeholder RAMP Steering Committee have unanimously decided to extend Hatfield’s contract to April 30, 2007 from the originally planned contract closing date of December 30, 2005.
We are excited to be given the opportunity to continue this work for an additional year and look forward to further refining the scientific program and increasing community involvement and communications.
