Jos began his career as a geophysicist before retooling himself as a groundwater scientist starting in 1994, with a focus on regional hydrogeology, groundwater modelling and groundwater-surface water interactions. He subsequently spent several years working as a research associate in forest watershed hydrology at the University of British Columbia before becoming a consulting hydrogeologist in 2004. Jos has been with Hatfield since 2017 and became an Associate Partner in November 2022. His project experience extends to the mining, oil sands, LNG, municipal, infrastructure and forestry sectors. Specific area of expertise include mine site environmental and permitting support, groundwater characterization (baseline) studies and effects assessments, groundwater modelling, physically-based hydrologic modelling, aquifer mapping and water balance studies, groundwater component of environmental flow needs studies, water supply studies, and providing expert technical (third party) review and advisory services.
In his spare time, Jos enjoys exploring different parts of BC on his gravel bike, hiking, cross-country skiing, yard work and other outdoor activities. With both kids out of the house, napping, listening to music and watching movies are also re-emerging as favorite pastimes.
