Following PhD and postdoctoral positions researching cold regions hydrology in the Yukon and BC interior, Dan joined Hatfield where his early career involved everything from winter lake-ice surveys in NWT to river monitoring in Lao PDR, ultimately joining a select group of staff to experience field conditions both below -40 and above +40 degrees C. He has since led the climate, hydrology or environmental flow components of baseline assessments or impact assessments and has represented clients in provincial or federal-level reviews of their Environmental Application. Most recently he is leading Hatfield’s work to support clients in addressing climate change risks and to meet new regulatory requirements, by tailoring climate change projections and incorporating climate change risks into all aspects of environmental assessment and data science. He is keen to help grow Hatfield’s climate change team which integrates the company strengths across all aspects of climate change risk assessment, adaptation, and stakeholder engagement.

Dan run-commutes from Kitsilano to our North Van office and enjoys tackling running or hiking adventures to remote locations such as New Zealand, Alaska, Antarctica, and Greenland. He is an aspiring DJ (following previous Hatfield partner-DJs).
