Background
The Project is being constructed by Metro Vancouver to increase the capacity of the existing system to ensure the continued, reliable delivery of clean, safe drinking water in a growing region, and to meet current seismic standards. Construction involves a bored tunnel crossing under Burrard Inlet, east of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge between the District of North Vancouver and the City of Burnaby. The Project consists of a north and south shaft on either side of the crossing connected by a deep concrete lined tunnel.
Services Provided
Hatfield developed and implemented an Environmental Protection Plan and permitting for the project including Disposal at Sea, DFO Request for Review (RFR), and Vancouver Port Authority Project Environmental Review (VFPA PER) for the dredging and construction of the marine berth. Hatfield is also providing environmental services including: monitoring and reporting, riparian assessments, fisheries, and aquatics assessments, soil and groundwater sampling and bird nesting surveys. Work is ongoing through subsequent phases.
