Southern African Development Community website launch

Dec 03, 2012

Hatfield Consultants Africa has today successfully launched the new Southern African Development Community (SADC) Website http://www.sadc.int, the ‘new face for the organisation’. The project to review and update the website for this important regional integration and economic development community, consisting of the 15 Member States of the Southern African region, was initiated in March 2012 and was launched today (3 December 2012) in Gaborone, Botswana at SADC Headquarters.

The SADC Webmaster, Mr Ramoletane Lekhanya, demonstrates the new SADC website (www.sadc.int) to the Ambassador of Germany to Botswana, Ms Annett Günther; the Executive Secretary of SADC, Dr Tomaz Salamão; and the Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration, Ms. Emilie Mushobekwa.

The proceedings, presided over by the SADC Executive Secretary Dr. Tomaz Salamão and the Deputy Executive Secretary for Finance and Administration Ms. Emilie Mushobekwa, included a presentation on the website project and demonstration of the website’s features by Mr. Simon Hughes, Director of Hatfield Consultants Africa. The audience for the event included Ambassadors to Botswana from Germany and Mozambique, as well as delegations from a number of regional and international embassies, the SADC Management Team, national and regional media and assembled SADC Secretariat staff.

The SADC website project was implemented by Hatfield Consultants Africa, with support from Open Software (Botswana) and Metamorfize (USA). The new website includes over 200 pages of content describing SADC, its institutions, structures and activities, with access to news, events, procurement notices, employment opportunities and documents and publications. The website links to social media channels and features a completely-revised structure and design. Currently available in the English language, the website will shortly be translated completely into the remaining official languages of SADC, French and Portuguese.
