Hatfield acknowledges National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day
Jun 19, 2026
On June 21, Hatfield joins communities and organizations across Canada in marking the 30th anniversary of National Indigenous Peoples Day, celebrating the rich cultures and traditions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. This day falls within National Indigenous History Month, a time to reflect on the histories, experiences and contributions of Indigenous Peoples, and to deepen our understanding of how they continue to shape the places where we live, work, and play.
Hatfield’s head office is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. With offices across western Canada, Hatfield works on projects located on the traditional territories of many distinct Indigenous Nations, each with its own history, culture, and relationship to the land. We recognize the deep and enduring connections these Nations have to their territories, and we are committed to strengthening trust through respectful, long-term relationships with Indigenous Nations and communities, grounded in listening, collaboration, and accountability.
The lands, waters, and ecosystems that sustain all of us are at the heart of our work. National Indigenous History Month is not only a time of recognition, but also a reminder of our responsibility to support Indigenous voices, honour Indigenous knowledge and leadership, and work alongside Indigenous communities in ways that advance environmental stewardship and collective well-being.
