Hatfield awarded the VCI TriStar Main Environmental Impact Assessment Project

Nov 28, 2014

Hatfield has been retained to provide technical services on the Value Creation Inc. (VCI) TriStar Main Project (the Project), located approximately 20 kilometres south of Fort McMurray, largely within the Hangingstone River watershed. The proposed Project scope includes both traditional in situ steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and upgrading components, together with associated pipeline and access corridors.

Hatfield is responsible for the completion of multi-seasonal baseline studies and effects assessments related to the aquatic resources components (hydrology, surface water quality and aquatic ecology disciplines) of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Application. Specifically, the scope of work for each discipline includes desktop reviews and assembly of existing information; field reconnaissance; baseline field programs including sampling, surveying and assessment over four seasons; data compilation, analyses and preparation of the Baseline Case; impact assessment for the Application and Planned Development Cases; and reporting.

Hatfield’s approach to implementing this work as an integrated program will meet the requirements of the 2013 Alberta Government Guide to Preparing Environmental Impact Assessment Reports in Alberta.
