With over 20 years of experience in leading people first cultures, Karen enjoys working with organizations to focus on employee engagement, promoting diversity and inclusion, and aligning organizational excellence with business strategy. Her expertise includes working in Human Resources Leadership in many different industries, such as medical devices, financial organizations, and public healthcare, including multi-national and private enterprises. Karen’s experience in Board leadership, notably as a Board Director with the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Alberta, demonstrates her passion for the human resources profession. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts from Queen’s University, a License de Sociologie from L’Université Pierre Mendès France in Grenoble, France, a Post-Diploma Human Resources Management, an MBA from Athabasca University, and the CPHR designation.
Karen was thrilled to join Hatfield in 2023 as Leader of People and Culture providing strategic leadership for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of Human Resources practices and systems.
Karen enjoys traveling and learning about other languages and cultures, speaking Portuguese as a kid, English and French growing up, and conversational Spanish while overseas. She also learned to speak some Nepali while volunteering there, although she’d admit, it’s rusty. Karen has lived in many different countries such as Brazil, France, Colombia, and Nepal. Outside of work and volunteering, she enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, biking, swimming, and of course, traveling.
