Jim Webb is an environmental practitioner and project leader with more than 20 years’ experience in Canada and ASEAN. His areas of specialization include environmental safeguard instruments and audits, environmental, social, and health impact assessments, cumulative effects assessments, third party due diligence, terrestrial ecosystem mapping, and capacity development. His sector experience includes international development, infrastructure, mining and exploration, renewable energy, and forestry.
Recent assignments delivered by Jim include: senior environmental safeguard specialist on an advisory assignment with the Ministry of Finance in Indonesia, funded by the World Bank; senior environmental safeguard specialist and team leader for the development of environmental and social safeguard instruments in Myanmar, Lao PDR and Cambodia for the World Bank; lead consultant for the assessment of dioxin-contaminated areas in Can Tho, Viet Nam for Sacombank; team member on an assessment of the mineral sector licensing and investment system in Lao PDR for the World Bank; team leader for baseline studies of aquatic biology and environmental/social impacts of mining activities at Sepon Mine in Lao PDR for MMG LXML; capacity building and the development of the Nam Ou River Basin Profile in Lao PDR for the IFC; consultant for remediation of dioxin-contaminated areas in Viet Nam with USAID; and senior reviewer for ESIAs and environmental management plans for proposed hydropower and mining developments in the Mekong Region for various clients.
