Hatfield advocates for mental health awareness and accessibility on World Mental Health Day 2025

Oct 10, 2025

In the face of today’s global challenges, World Mental Health Day 2025, observed on October 10, serves as a significant reminder to ensure that mental health is valued, supported, and accessible for all.

Many Canadians struggle with mental health, however, in the face of a humanitarian crisis, this struggle is far more widespread and profound. This year’s theme, as outlined by the World Federation for Mental Health, focuses on mental health in catastrophes and emergencies, highlighting the dire need to support mental health and encourage global action during these times of extreme adversity – including natural disasters, conflicts, pandemics and various humanitarian crises. While the immediate aftermath of these events can be devastating, the long-term psychological trauma is often overlooked.

On World Mental Health Day, we proudly stand in solidarity with the global movement to bring awareness to the importance of mental health. While we cannot always avoid crises, we can ensure our organization and community are equipped with the tools and support needed to respond quickly and effectively when they arise.
