Hatfield welcomes new staff in Vancouver, Fort McMurray, Calgary and Terrace

We are thrilled to announce that several dynamic and talented individuals have joined our growing team over the past few months! At Hatfield, having a skilled, qualified and motivated team is a top priority, allowing us to take on a wide variety of interesting work across Canada and internationally. We warmly welcome these individuals to our offices.
Joining our team in Vancouver:
Albert Chen, Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, joins our Finance Team as Payroll Administrator. With a decade of accounting, compliance and payroll experience, Albert has a solid background in internal audits including financial reviews, operation efficiency, and internal investigations.
Alex Lake, BSc Environmental Science, joins the Infrastructure and Environmental Management Group as an Environmental Technician. Alex has a strong background in aquatic science, with work experience as an aquaculture technician that involved maintaining fishery stocks and other aquatic monitoring, as well as various environmental management projects, leading field crews and reporting.
Angie Nicolas, MSc Ecology, joins our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Group as an Intermediate Aquatic Specialist. Angie is a Registered Professional Biologist with experience working in terrestrial and freshwater systems with extensive fieldwork, laboratory, and data analysis components. She has a background in aquatic ecology and fisheries research with an emphasis on benthic invertebrates and recently obtained a diploma in data science, making her proficient in data visualization, data management and statistical analysis.
Ariel Shatsky, BSc Marine Biology, joins our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Group as an Environmental Technician. Ariel has work experience as a fish physiology research assistant, as well as a field assistant assessing the health of Coho salmon habitats including water quality assessments, data collection, and water velocity measurements. She has assisted with fish capture and identification, as well as aided in restoration work.
Camden Moir, MSc Integrative Biology, joins as an Environmental Specialist in our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Group. Camden has experience in marine and freshwater ecology, having led on-site behavioral assessments of cleaner fishes housed in Atlantic salmon sea cages in Newfoundland, as well as completed thorough assessments from fish collection to macroinvertebrate identification and molecular metabarcoding of diets.
Charlene Wood, MSc Conservation Biology, joins our Wildlife Group as a Senior Wildlife Specialist. Charlene has over a decade of experience as a wildlife and terrestrial ecologist, with extensive experience in long-term wildlife effectiveness monitoring, revegetation monitoring, various wildlife surveys, and riparian vegetation assessments and restoration. In addition, she has written numerous technical reports and has many peer-reviewed publications.
David Reid, PhD Physical Geography, joins our Water Resources Group as a Hydrologist. David is an environmental scientist with field-based research experience related to applied issues in hydrology, geomorphology, and aquatic ecology. His current research is focused on the influence of land use and land cover change on watershed processes, stream channel stability, and aquatic habitat in the Nicola and Bonaparte River watersheds.
Eddie Yu, BBA, joins as Finance Manager for our Canadian operations. Eddie started his career in accounting, moving into business and operational analysis and project accounting. As a Business Analysis, Eddie has had experience in a wide variety of projects, including managing the operational accounting for 66 Go-Transit stations which included resourcing and maintenance for construction projects and capital improvements, as well as working in an infrastructure and transportation department managing projects and measuring key performance indicators of project health.
Kerry Marchinko, PhD Evolutionary Ecology, joins our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Group as Fisheries & Aquatics Manager. Kerry is experienced in leading ecological research across northern and western Canada in both applied industry and academic positions. He has a broad background, including graduate work in both marine and freshwater ecosystems and statistical consulting across all biological disciplines. His specialties include fish and aquatics issues in hydropower and mining, salmon hatcheries, marine and aquatic ecology and fish biology, to name a few.
Kelsey Nikl, BA Health Sciences, joins our Human Environment Group as a Junior Social Science Specialist. Kelsey’s education in Health Sciences provides a solid foundation for community and socioeconomic research and analysis, including the social determinants of health, gender-based analysis, and exploring how humans can be affected, both positively and negatively, by projects and events in their local environment.
Kevin Kilcoyne, MSc Coastal & Marine Environments, joins our Construction Monitoring Team within the Infrastructure and Environmental Management Group as an Environmental Technician. Kevin’s Master’s Degree focused on physical processes, policy, and practice involving fieldwork for environmental impact assessments. After working as a laboratory technician, Kevin followed his career goals which brought him to Canada doing environmental monitoring on major construction projects.
Laura Costello, BSc Biological Science, joins our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Group as an Environmental Technician. Laura studied at University of the Virgin Islands for two years where she focused on Marine Biology and then returned to the University of Calgary to complete her degree. Recently, she has been working as an Undergraduate Research Assistant where she learned how to conduct large-scale systematic literature searches and gained a deeper understanding of meta-analyses.
Nathan Deyell, Chemical and Environmental Technology Diploma, joins our Construction Monitoring Team within the Infrastructure and Environmental Management Group as an Environmental Technician. Nathan has experience in wastewater solutions, groundwater, soil and soil vapour. His studies of environmental chemistry coupled with his experience in oil and gas remediation, gives him a solid background in construction monitoring.
Susana Ordonez-Jones, Finance Diploma, joins our Finance Team as Accounts Payable Specialist. With a BBA in Marketing, Susana has a background in marketing and brand development from the early days of her career in Mexico. More recently, she has shifted her career into the world of finance and accounting, with strengths in accounts payable.
Tamara Reid, BA Psychology and Post Baccalaureate Diploma in Human Resources Management, joins our growing Talent Acquisition Team as Talent Acquisition Specialist. Tamara has an extensive background in talent acquisition, human resources, policy creation, benefits allocation, payroll compliance, and coordinated performance management reviews. She has recruited for a wide range of roles including front-line healthcare workers, academics, administration, marketing, office staff, and red seal trades.
Joining our team in Fort McMurray:
Anthony Pica, BSc Natural Resource Conservation, joins our Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Group as an Environmental Technician. Anthony has experience conducting environmental sampling, including aquatic sampling using the Fish Habitat Assessment Protocol, conducting stream assessments and designing monitoring studies, as well as vegetation assessments.
Diego Holz, BSc Environmental Technology (In-progress), joins our Infrastructure and Environmental Management Group as an Environmental Technician. Diego has experience with data collection methods and fieldwork, including soil and water sampling, sieve and hydrometer analysis, water quality assessments, flora and fauna identification, GPS usage, geographic information systems and mapping, as well as laboratory work.
Marc Joubert, BSc and MSc Marine Biology, joins our Wildlife Group as an Environmental Technician. With a background in marine and terrestrial biology and ecology, Marc has experience conducting scientific field surveys of fish, birds, mammals, amphibians, plants, habitats and sediment composition in marine and terrestrial habitats in temperate and tropical regions. In addition, he has conducted surveys of boreal forest plant composition and structure, as well as coastal fish, mammal and bird surveys, observing and recording behavioural activity.
Megan Bayley, BSc Environmental Science, joins our Infrastructure and Environmental Management Group as Environmental Technician. As a recent graduate, Megan has spent two summers in the oil sands region supporting field programs for multiple wildlife monitoring and research projects including field surveys using track plates, bioacoustics monitoring, as well as boat surveys/transects on tailings pond.
Stephanie Thunberg, BSc Biological Sciences, joins our Wildlife Group as an Environmental Technician, with a solid foundation in ecology and science communication, with an emphasis on ornithology, wildlife biology, and conservation. Stephanie has experience with mist netting, bird banding, nest sweeps and animal husbandry. She also has experience with public education, educational programming and development.
Tyrone Miranda, MSc Science and MSc Water Security, joins our Water Resources Group as a Water Resource Technician. Tyrone’s academic background encompasses resolving water-related issues with a multidisciplinary approach, taking into consideration every aspect of science, fieldwork, planning, stakeholder involvement, water resource management and policy. He has experience with hydrometeorological, snow surveying and stream discharge surveys, as well as streamflow surveys.
Winston Jamieson, BSc Environmental Science, joins our Infrastructure an Environmental Management Group as an Environmental Technician. Winston has a background in aquatic and terrestrial ecological monitoring, including electrofishing and fish population counts, benthic sampling, macroinvertebrate identification, water-way characterization, riparian health assessments, and terrestrial habitat assessments. He has a diverse background in remediation, spill response, hydrology, surface water and groundwater sampling.
Joining our team in Calgary:
Amy Perrin, BSc Geophysics and Earth Science, joins our Water Resources Group as a Water Resources Manager. Amy is a professional hydrogeologist specializing in the management and technical design of projects in mineral exploration, municipal infrastructure, environment, renewable energy, conventional gas, oil sands, coal mines, and landfills. She has experience managing a portfolio of complex sites, implementing short and long-term strategies. As a Project Manager, Amy has been responsible for the financial health, quality control, technical excellence, and client management on all projects she has led.
Joining our team in Terrace:
Emma Hawksworth, BSc Natural Resources, joins our Infrastructure and Environmental Management Group as an Environmental Technician. Emma’s background includes fish salvages and wildlife surveys. She has experience in construction monitoring, as well as culvert and bridge construction monitoring. She also has experience with water quality monitoring and streamflow measurements, and has spent two summers conducting flood impact studies in watersheds at the Foothills Research Institute.
