Growing up on Quadra Island with an expansive selection of three black-and-white TV channels, Dan spent his formative years roaming the forests and swimming in the coves of British Columbia’s scenic west coast. He also devoted countless hours honing his baseball and soccer skills in pursuit of the life of a professional athlete, battling his parents’ insistence that he remain enrolled in elementary school despite it cutting into precious training time. It was this early academic focus that resulted in Dan pursuing a career in environmental consulting.

Dan joined Hatfield as a fisheries technician in 1998, and the adventure of travelling to some of the most beautiful and remote places in western Canada confirmed to him that he’d made a great career choice. Of his many professional highlights, Dan is particularly proud of opening Hatfield’s first Canadian branch office in Fort McMurray, and participating in numerous investigations of Agent Orange contamination in southern Vietnam that culminated in one of the largest dioxin treatment projects in the world, the $100M USD remediation of the Danang International Airport.

Dan brings his team-oriented approach to his current position of Director of Hatfield’s Environmental Monitoring & Assessment Group, where he is responsible for leading strategic planning, coordinating business development activities, and ensuring the highest levels of service are provided to our diverse range of clients. Dan has been a partner and member of the Hatfield Board since 2012.

In his spare time, Dan can be found encouraging his three young boys to stay in school (and down on the ground balls).
