Hatfield acknowledges National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day
Jun 21, 2024
Each year on June 21, Hatfield commemorates National Indigenous Peoples Day, a day dedicated to acknowledging the history and heritage of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. This day, which falls within the wider recognition of National Indigenous History Month, highlights our deepest respect and observance of the unique cultures, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous Peoples throughout Canada; respect we carry with us throughout the entire year.
As a company, we acknowledge that our head office is located on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We also recognize and acknowledge the rights, cultures, interests, and aspirations of the many other Indigenous Peoples who have lived since time immemorial in the places we live and work.
We hold in high regard the special connections that Indigenous Peoples have with their traditional and treaty lands and waters here in Canada. Our aim is to find ways to collaborate that will bring about mutual advantages for Indigenous communities and the environment.
